MNH Launch ‘Museum on the Move’

Monday 22 June 2020

Manx National Heritage, the charity responsible for the care and promotion of the Island’s natural and cultural heritage, today announced the launch of ‘Museum on the Move’, a new initiative providing online learning resources for Manx teachers and families.

Museum on the Move includes an eight week programme of activities brought to life online. These resources are only normally available at the museum sites or on the school workshops programme.

Activities include film, worksheets and delivery notes which support teachers, parents and carers using the resources.  The resources are designed to engage and inspire young learners, whilst facilitating online learning in topics such as history, nature and the environment, geography, art and design.

Anthea Young, Education Services Officer for Manx National Heritage said:

“All the activities are inspired by the Isle of Man’s much-loved museums, heritage sites and natural environment, which are enjoyed by thousands of young people from across the Island each year.

Activities include short films, alongside some accompanying online teaching resources, which will be released every Monday over an eight week period. Last week was all about Rushen Abbey and this week we’re off to Meayll Circle, so make sure you tune in".

Museums on the Move is part of Manx National Heritage’s digital programme inspiring people of all ages to engage with the Isle of Man’s rich heritage, culture and natural environment.

The resources can be found online at  www.manxnationalheritage.im/learn/family-learning/ and will be shared via www.facebook.com/manxnationalheritage.
