Come and join us at the Grove for a morning of beekeeping with Steve Bassil of Ramsey and District Beekeeper's Association.

The session will start with a talk about the history of honeybees and apiculture. We will be in the upstairs room at the Grove surrounded by antique beekeeping equipment and the indoor observation hive where you can see the bees going about their daily business.

After the talk you will don a beekeeping suit and have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the bees in the onsite beehives in the beautiful Grove gardens.

You will see brood in all stages developing from egg to bee, worker bees, drones and if you are really lucky the Queen. We will go through the whole hive so you will see how the bees organise themselves, rear their young, build their home and store their honey.

There will be plenty of opportunities for questions.

Please bring wellington boots or similar and a pair of yellow marigold gloves if you have them.

If you are allergic to bee stings this event is not for you as there is a small risk of being stung.

Tickets are £15 (with an optional donation to FMNH). To book, email hannah@fmnh.im.
