The Story of Derby Castle

Peter Kelly will enlighten us as to the tale of some barren land on the margin of Douglas shore that once belonged to the Duke of Athol, became the site of two new dwellings called the Derby Castle in the 1840’s, was converted into a pleasure ground and entertainments complex in the 1870’s , demolished in in the 1960’s to make way for the short-lived and infamous Summerland in the 1970’s and now reverted to an empty, barren site.
