Apethorpe Hall

Apethorpe Hall, Northamptonshire: The rescue of an English country house

We are pleased to welcome Nick Hill, English Heritage National Conservation Projects Manager.

A home to the wealthy and a favourite of royalty, Apethorpe Hall, near Oundle in Northamptonshire was controversially abandoned to decay and ruin in the last two decades of the 20th century.  In 2004 it was saved for the nation by English Heritage and this unique building, with its rare intact Jacobean interiors, is now undergoing painstaking conservation.
